How are Entries Organised
Entries are organized alphabetically in Osage in the Browse Osage – English section of the dictionary according to the alphabet at the top of the main page. Each letter in the alphabet is hyperlinked and takes users to a list of entries beginning with that letter. Entries in this section include the Osage headword (hyperlinked), the headword in square brackets marked with stress, the part of speech, and the English translation(s). If there is more than one English translation, they are numbered. Some entries contain extra information such as cross references, variations, information on the entry's source, example phrases, grammatical information on how to use the word, the term's gender, the terms components (hyperlinked), grammatical information on a component's function, and audio recordings of the Osage pronunciation. The hyperlinked Osage headword takes users to the entry where there is an online form that can be filled out to leave a comment to the dictionary's creators. The Osage components are also hyperlinked and take users to the entry for that component.
Entries in the Browse English – Osage section are organized alphabetically by English and contain the English headword and the Osage translation. The Osage translations are hyperlinked, taking users to the Browse Osage – English entry for that word/component. There is a hyperlinked English alphabet at the top of the main page of the Browse English – Osage section that takes users to all entries that begin with that letter.
Users can search the dictionary in Osage or English. The dictionary can be searched by part of speech (i.e., noun, verb, adjective, etc.). Users can select whether the search function matches the whole word being searched and whether to match accents and tone markers. Regardless of whether the dictionary is searched in English or Osage, entries are listed Osage to English, but both the English and Osage parts of the entry are searched.
There are many pages dedicated to extra information, such as phonology, grammar, or a foreword, that have not been populated as of mid-2025.
