How are Entries Organised

Entries are organized alphabetically in Osage in the Osage-English section of the dictionary according to the alphabet at the top of the main page. Each letter in the alphabet is hyperlinked and takes users to a list of entries beginning with that letter. Entries in this section include the Osage headword (hyperlinked), the headword in square brackets marked with stress, the part of speech, the English translation(s), and the Osage word divided into its components. The hyperlinked Osage headword takes users to the entry. If there is more that one English translation, they are numbered. The Osage components are also hyperlinked and take users to the entry for that component. Some entries contain extra information such as cross references, variations, information on the entry's source, grammatical information on a component's function, example phrases, and audio recordings of the Osage pronunciation.

Entries in the English-Osage section are organized alphabetically by English and contain the English headword and the Osage translation. The Osage translations are hyperlinked, taking users to the Osage-English entry for that word/component. There is a hyperlinked English alphabet at the top of the main page of the English-Osage section that takes users to all entries that begin with that letter.

On the right hand side of both sections of the dictionary there is an Osage Sound Guide that categorizes the sounds by vowels, nasal vowels, dipthongs, and consonants. Each sound has the Osage letter, the English equivalent with an example word to explain the sound, and an audio recording of the sound.
