As a Moderator you will want to be prepared for possible technical problems you encounter using Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing.

This document will show you how to:

  • Troubleshoot the common problems you may encounter in Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing

Instructions

Problem What to do
Session will not open
  • Ensure you are using the correct URL.
  • It is possible to have issues opening Blackboard Collaborate sessions if you are using a "stale" .JNLP file. Circumvent this by downloading the .JNLP file (file to open session) fresh from the session hyperlink made available to you rather than attempting to open the session from an older .JNLP file in your computer's downloaded files.
Session has frozen
  • Exit the session and try entering again.
  • Minimize the number of applications running on your computer. You can learn about the remaining processing power of your machine in Windows through the Task Manager, and in Mac OS through the Activity Monitor.
Completed Audio Wizard but audio still isn't transmitting properly
  • Ensure that all your audio equipment is properly connected.
  • You may need to clear your Java cache.[1]
  • Check volume controls to ensure nothing has been muted.
I'm hearing/creating an echo
  • Blackboard Collaborate Version 12 features echo cancellation capabilities. If you are using Version 12 and are still experiencing issues with echoes, ensure that the echo cancellation feature is still turned on in your Preferences.
