Hi Morgan,
Your page is looking great! My one suggestion, which is a matter of personal preference so feel free to disregard, is to make the subheadings smaller so they are not so similar to the main headings and there aren't two lines.
Instead of "National Archives of Australia" (with one =) and "Early Beginnings" (with == on either side), maybe try:
National Archives of Australia[wikitext]
(formatted with == on either side)
Early Beginnings[wikitext]
(with === on either side)
Thank you! you are totally right ! I have made some changes!
Awesome! It looks great :)
Hi Morgan, Quick question--are you planning on including any information about Australian archives relationships with Indigenous peoples? I'm just wondering if I should link up our pages! Best, Allison
Also, if you are planning to talk about it at all, even briefly, then I think that this article does a really good job of a rapid fire tour through archival concerns:
Janke, Terrie and Iacovino, Livia. “Keeping Cultures Alive: Archives and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property Rights.” Archival Science 12, no. 2 (2012)
Hi Morgan,
You page is looking great! You've got so much of the content filled in already. I'm impressed. Are you waiting until you finish the content to put in the citations? I noticed that you're linking to outside sources for some things, so I figured maybe you're still deciding what you want for everything. For some of the Wikipedia-like links you've got here, I noticed you're using internal instead of external links and pointing towards pages that don't currently exist on the UBC wiki. You might want to edit them to point to Wikipedia or another website instead. Can't wait to see how your page develops! Best, Allison
Hi Morgan,
I just had a look at your wiki and I noticed that the url is inputted incorrectly, making the title of the wiki "Http://wiki.ubc.ca/Course:ARST573/Australian Archives" instead of "Course:ARST573/Australian Archives". To change the name of your wiki I think this page provides instructions: http://wiki.ubc.ca/Help:Moving_a_page.
Otherwise it looks like your wiki is coming along really well!
Best, Hannah
Hi Morgan, You might want to change the title of your page so the http://wiki.ubc.ca does not appear on your site name. I realize that you are still writing your page, but it would be nice to see your citations up soon. What I have read so far is well written. In your second paragraph you have the name Ian Maclean bolded, are you going to be linking his name? Overall great job and I’m really looking forward to reading more of what you have to say!
Hey, Morgan!
I really like what you have so far. I think the biggest thing you need to look out for at this point (besides adding what needs to be added) is to watch for grammatical errors. I remember reading about a "fist time" somewhere, though I didn't write where.
Anyway, good luck!
Hi Morgon,
Good work on the page so far. My suggestions are mostly about formatting. Some of your links, like those in the "Early Beginnings" section link to internal UBC wiki pages that don't exist. It's a pretty easy fix as you can link to the external Wikipedia pages. Also some of your headings are different sizes, it might help to establish a certain size for headings vs subheadings. Also adding a reference section, if you are not already planning to do so. Good luck on the rest of your page
Kelly
Hey Morgan!
You have a lot of information here so far -- there seems to be a wealth of information on the National Archives in Australia, very cool.
I have some suggestions, questions re: your outline and headings, though perhaps these will all be answered as you continue to add information.
- (section 2) "National Archives of Australia": it might be helpful to include the dates of each time period you mention (e.g., "Early Beginnings (1920-1954)"; "Independence for the Archives (1961-1983)"; etc
- (section 5) "Archives of Australia": will this section cover archives aside from the National Archives of Australia? If so, you might consider altering the title to something like "Additional Archives in Australia" -- Just to make a clear distinction between National Archives of Australia and Archives of Australia
Overall, nice work! I'm looking forward to reading more about the two life cycle models and their relationship to Australian archives. Best, Alison #2
Hey Morgan, Great job so far - you've taken on a huge topic. I like how your organization is coming along so far on the National Archives. I am interested in seeing how you incorporate the 'Series' and 'Continuum Model' sections into your wiki. I wonder whether these sections might not be better suited as subsections or somehow incorporated into the institutional histories rather than remain stand - alone sections. I was also thinking that you may want to create a section titled "Legislation" or something similar. This may help to give more organizational clarity to your content for the National Archives. I know you are still in the early stages of editing but since your content so far is text-heavy, adding some visuals may enhance the overall effect of your wiki. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses! K
Hi Morgan S.,
I love Australia and couldn't wait to read your wiki. You've done a good job in the areas you've decided to cover and I think it will be a comprehensive wiki of the topic once you're finished.
I agree with Morgan C. that a discussion of archival practises prior to the establishment of the National Archives would not only be interesting but useful. As well, if you're focus is on Australian Archives as opposed to the National Archives, then a discussion of other Australian Archives would also be great to see.
I hesitate to comment on technical things since this is a draft, but of course the title of the draft as it appears on the page needs to be fixed and the missing overview.
Looking forward to the rest.
Best,
V
Hi Morgan,
You've got lots of great info so far- Australia's archival landscape is so vast...! Some suggestions I have:
- Following the wiki standards, consider having a little intro at the top before your table of contents to explain your wiki: What does "Australian Archives" refer to and what is the Scope of your wiki? It may help with the headings "nesting" that Kelsey suggests below.
- An alternative for following a linear "history" model of Australian Archives is to have sections such as
- Overview (general History part)
- National Archives of Australia, then nest "Legislation and Mandate/ Acts" , " Materials acquired..."
- [insert other prominent archives of Australia]
- Other Archives in Australia
- Australian Society of Archivists
- Also consider having a Key Developments and/or Issues section, where you can talk about the major contributions Australia Archives has contributed to the literature in archives?

Hi Morgan,
Writing my archives-history wiki, I've gotten into the mindset of older archival practices so can't help but ask if you've looked into or considered giving a brief explanation of archives prior to the establishment of the National Archives of Australia. Or if you do truly just want to focus on the National Archives, perhaps include that in your intro or maybe even the title of the page? Just an idea, otherwise I like where you're page is going and am looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Hi Morgan, Your page has a lot of great info so far, and it's a really big topic to take on. I would suggest maybe taking a less nested/levelled approach to the headings structure, as it can get a little confusing (ie., one of your sections is "National Archives of Australia" and another is "Archives of Australia"). Perhaps start your top level headers with more specific topics and then you can have a more focused section on each one, that way you also won't run the risk of having too many subheaders for the broader sections.
