Adhesive Bonding
- Met with Goran yesterday
- Each epoxy has own cure kinetics
- Just recieved cure kinetic formula we will use
- Any adhesive experiment is very time consuming
- Goran suggests a basic excel spreadsheet to model the kinetics
- What fraction cured is enough for strength/stiffness of the joint?
Heat Transfer
- Focus on Fourier's second law?
- Types of ovens used in industry
- Read Chad's literature and lecture notes from Transport I
Recovery
- Difference between recovery and recrystallization - focus on only recovery
- Read Chad's literature
Precipitation Hardening
- Equation for precipitation hardening
- Short summary of theory of precipitation hardening

- Finalize mathematical models, list all needed parameters

Curing Kinetics
- Goran suggest using excel

- Parameter of equation:~40-200 degrees Celsius
- Paint bake if ~160 (<250 degrees) so we are OK.
- Question: α- What values to look at? If we change the value of α will the value change?
- What is the upper limit of the adhesive-> constraint to reduce the parameter
- Max temperature for adhesive?
- Degree cure of adhesive? (Ask company?)
- Chad can contact GM and Novelis if we have specific questions
- Ask Goran what is the thickness of the epoxy and why. Ask Goran about the thermal properties of epoxy

- Assume 1D transfer- no complicated shape
- Keep up below the Biot #

- Need to determine temperature as a function of position
- Since its Al-epoxy-Al we can calculate the heat transfer for half of the system
