Project Description

Students will research the food waste scenario in Richmond by contacting grocery stores and surveying them about their surplus/outdated food sharing and disposal policies.

Goals of the Project

  • We would like to find out what work is currently being done or has already been done in terms of perishable food recovery within Richmond. A look at Metro Vancouver’s Zero Waste Strategy and how it relates to food recovery.
  • Our main goal is to increase our perishable food offering to our clients. Perishable food that is fresh or packaged, uncooked and is close to its best before date. Some examples include: Milk, cheese, meat, produce, frozen ready to eat meals etc.
