  • Electrolytes (Salt, Sodium Citrate, Magnesium and Calcium Chlorides, Mono-Potassium Phosphate) Helps with hydration among other things.
  • Vitamins B12 and C (Cyanocobalamin and Ascorbic Acid):
    • Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12): Supports energy metabolism and nervous system function.
    • Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): Acts as an antioxidant and supports immune function.
  • Natural Flavors: Enhances the taste of the drink.
  • Modified Food Starch: Acts as a thickening agent to improve mouthfeel and texture.

  • Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate: Aids in emulsification and improves the stability of the drink.
  • Blue 1: A food coloring agent used to give Powerade its characteristic blue color.

Similarly, here are the functional qualities of each ingredient for Powerade Mixed Berry Zero Sugar:

  • Water: The base ingredient, serving as the solvent for other components.
  • Citric Acid: Functions as a flavor enhancer and also helps in preserving the drink.
  • Sucralose: A non-nutritive sweetener that provides sweetness without adding calories.
  • Acesulfame Potassium: Another non-nutritive sweetener that enhances sweetness without adding calories.
  • Calcium Disodium EDTA[4]: A preservative that prevents color changes due to metal ions, maintaining the visual appeal of the drink.
  • Blue 1: A food coloring agent used to give Powerade Zero its blue color.

Comparison and Contrast:

  • Sweeteners:
    • Powerade Mountain Berry Blast uses high fructose corn syrup as its primary sweetener, providing energy but also adding calories.
    • Powerade Mixed Berry Zero Sugar uses sucralose and acesulfame potassium, both non-nutritive sweeteners, to provide sweetness without calories.
  • Electrolytes and Vitamins:
    • Both products contain similar electrolytes (salt, magnesium, calcium, and potassium) and vitamins (B12 and C) to aid hydration and support bodily functions.
  • Additives:
    • Both drinks use citric acid, natural flavors, and Blue 1 for flavor enhancement, preservation, and color.
    • Powerade Mountain Berry Blast includes modified food starch and sucrose acetate isobutyrate for texture and stability, while Powerade Mixed Berry Zero Sugar relies on sucralose and acesulfame potassium for sweetness and ascorbic acid for additional vitamin C.
  • Calorie Content:
    • The main difference lies in the calorie content due to the type of sweeteners used. Powerade Mountain Berry Blast has more calories due to high fructose corn syrup, whereas Powerade Mixed Berry Zero Sugar has minimal calories owing to the use of non-nutritive sweeteners.
