Project Description
Context: What challenge or issue does the project aim to address?
This project should reinforce the theme of Biology 12 including:
- The types of biomolecules that our bodies are built of and the roles of these biomolecules
- The order in which the body depletes these molecules as it goes through starvation
- How does lack of some nutrients affect the health (homeostasis) of the body?
Extension:
- Factors influencing the in/equity in access to quality food
Main Project Activities
- Reviewing and analyzing a data set
- Making some concrete proposal(s) for positive change --> actionable ones are best!
Expected Project Deliverable(s)
Students should create and deliver :
- 1 25-45 minute workshop (on-line recorded or virtual in person)
- 1 follow-up activity assignment (no more than 60 min to complete)
Intended Project Outcome
- Reinforcement of Grade 12 student's learning about biomolecules' role in health
- Engagement with issues of equitable food access and food waste/sustainability issues
