Overview

The Academic Reading Skills module will help you read and understand academic writing more quickly and effectively than you do now.

This module will cover the following topics:

  1. Reading long academic articles;
  2. reading your textbook; and
  3. Reading exam questions.


Outcomes

After successful completion of this module, you should be able to:

  • Understand the basic framework of academic articles in your discipline;
  • Use this framework to guide you through academic articles;
  • Decrease the amount of time you spend reading, understanding and synthesizing texts;
  • Understand exam questions by using clues to guide you; and
  • Reflect on your own reading process in your AES Learning Journal


Please note the approximate times you need is given at the end of each section. You may choose to complete only those sections most relevant to your needs.
