Hi Emily,

Thanks for your note. The Documentation index is being created through a DPL query to list all of the pages in the documentation namespace - it counts the subpages but does not display them. It looks like the truncation is due to a dpl limitation that does not allow lists to contain more than 500 items (this is done as DPL generated lists are rather system intensive and this is something that we do not want to change as it has the potential to crash the wiki). Which is to say that the Index is cutting off after the first 500 pages (non-displayed subpages included). I'll need to take a closer look at this; probably the best solution is to categorize and index the Documentation space to create a more structured index, which probably won't be available until next Wednesday or Thursday.

The Wordpress Basics page is still available at Documentation:Wordpress_Basics. You can always get to any page in any namespace by using the contents link in the navigation box on the left hand column, choosing the right namespace, and navigating to the correct page.

Best,

Hey Will thanks for the answer. I think this needs a solution asap. Because looking at the list its hard to navigate...I look at the END of the list and think well, "THATS IT THE END OF THE LIST"...but clearly its not the end of the list...so CONFUSING to say the least. THANKS a bunch...pls advise asap. EmilyRenoe

Hi Emily, I changed the documentation index so it no longer says "Contents" (it now says: "Examples of pages in the documentation namespace"). I'll work on pulling together a better indexing solution but it probably be next Wednesday before there is a workaround. Best, Will - WikiAdministrator 23:04, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Hey Emily, no worries - I really appreciate you calling my attention to this problem. I agree with you that this is something that needs to be rectified as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it looks like there is no simple technical solution and building out a proper index will take a few days (mainly because I'm back in classes and my time is a bit more limited). Anyway, I'll have something up next week. Thanks again - Will WikiAdministrator 23:37, 9 September 2010 (UTC) [cross posted at my user discussion page]

Hi Emily - thanks for your latest note. The eLearning space is a reserved namespace, which requires users to have access rights in order to be able to edit articles. I've set your account so you edit that space. Please let me know if that works or if there is anything else I can do. Will - WikiAdministrator 21:01, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about that - I hadn't realized that you were in the middle of doing a session and not just building out documentation.

Cheers,
