I Love Chinese Ancient Style Music. It is melodious music. Every song has the magic to take listeners to a story happened in the distant past. The themes of the music are broad, such as dreams, family-country ,friendship, feelings, etc. Listening to such music will make you immersed in the atmosphere like crossing time and place.
I am not a sports person, but travel is one of my favourite things. Different places have different sceneries, leaving you different feelings. Whether it is about landscape, cultural heritage or modern cities, each place is an approach to know more about the world. Also, I believe that experiencing local customs is a great way to enrich my life and add something new to my thoughts.
Academic Goals and Interests
East Asian Study
My academic goal is my motivation to learn. East Asian Study is my desired study field, and it is one of the most important reasons why I chose UBC.
The course focuses on culture, language, international relations, etc. I expect to study the history and development of east Asia, and also digest what I have learned with the help of this multi-disciplinary course.
University Activities
I am a member of UBC Ballet class. This is a class for ballet beginners. I joined it to develop dance skills and enrich my extracurricular life.
Volunteer Experience/Community Involvement
Spark Global Online Volunteer Education Program
In the vacation before my university freshman year, I participated in the online volunteer teaching plan organized by China Social Assistance Foundation. For two months, I taught one or two online classes to children from poor areas per weekday. Every class should be fully prepared in advance and also would be recorded after class.
Serving the community is the source of my happiness. This plan aims to improve the imbalance of educational resources among regions, and meanwhile it helps volunteers to develop good communication and teaching ability.
Music
I play Guzheng as a hobby and I am still learning it.
Guzheng is a traditional Chinese plucked stringed instrument. People will be attracted by its musical tone and elegant playing style.

Hobbies
Reading.
Reading literature and history books is the pleasure in my square time. It presents a slow-paced lifestyle to some extent. One of my favourite history books is The Silk Roads written by Peter Frankopan for looking at history from a different perspective.
