Hi Im James Lee. Im in the Faculty of Arts and Im from California.

The Pythagorean Theorem is a commonly used math equation in math. More specifically it deals with right triangles. But have you ever wondered about its origins? The Pythagorean Theorem is said to have been around for as many as 2000 years. Studies have shown that Chinese scholars may have used a very similar equation even before the Greeks did. Actually Pythagoras who is suppose to have started the pythagoreon Theorem may not have been a real person at all. The Egyptians are said to have used a very similar system by using a triangle system involving 3,4,5. By using this 3,4,5 system they are credited with building the pyramids. The Pythagoreon Theorem can be used to find any side of a right triangle. The equation is a^2+b^2=c^2. Let's say one is trying to find the answer to the hypoteneuse of a traingle, the hypoteneuse is the side across from the right angle. If the problem set gives the length of side A and side B then one would simply plug the numbers into the equation, square them and get the answer. After, one would find the square root of that answer to get C. The Pythagoreon Theorem will always be used in math for years to come.
