Wiki page suggestions

Hi Candace,

I really enjoyed reading your Wiki page. I thought you did a great job in organizing your points of discussion, which made it really easy to follow!

I just have two suggestions for your page. You mention in your “Discrimination in Health Care” section the image of the “drunken Indian” that severely impacts the ability of Indigenous peoples to get the proper care they need. When I was reading this section, it brought to mind the case of Brian Sinclair. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with this case but, Sinclair visited an ER in Winnipeg to receive care back in 2007 (if I remember correctly). I believe he was advised to go to the ER to get a blocked catheter changed. He waited in the ER waiting room for 34 hours and eventually died because the hospital staff neglected him due to their image of him just being a “drunken Indian”. I think it would be good to perhaps add this example to your page and even link a site, if readers want to learn more about this story. I think this devastating case allows readers to understand the implications of biases and stereotypes faced by Indigenous peoples in the health care system.

My second suggestion for your page would be to utilize the “cite” function in Wiki rather than using in- text citations. This function allows you to use a number (instead of doing a traditional in-text citation) that links to a reference at the end of the page. I think by eliminating in-text citations this may increase the flow of your article.
