Clement V

Hi Ali, I was shocked reading about Pope Clement V.My shock stems from his suppressing the order of the Knights Templar, permitting the execution of many of its members, and above all, moving the papacy from Rome to Avignon, thus, creating the Avignon Papacy.

I can't imagine the type of Catholic leader he was. I wonder whether he had some military training like Pope John XXIII.

How could a Christian leader do such a thing? It seems to that what the contemporary era is experiencing in Christendom is no different from what happened years ago.
