Hi! Great job on well-structured contents and interesting topic!

I am not sure whether you finished the work, but if not, I'd like to suggest including what kinds of sentencing options are in the U.S., such as the death penalty and imprisonment is disproportionally sentenced to the African Americans compared to the whites. There are a lot of sentencing options: absolute discharge, conditional discharge, restitution, fines, community service, conditional sentence, and imprisonment. In Canada, "restorative justice" is often widely used in aboriginals' criminal justice system in pursuit of respectful dialogue between the perpetrator and the victim to promote accountability, healing, and constructive resolutions. It might be helpful to suggest a coping method for the unfair treatment towards the blacks.

Great job!

Hi!

Thank you for your suggestion! You're absolutely right that sentencing in the the US has disproportionately affected African Americans compared to their white counterparts. In the wake of the Black Lives Matter Movement, this has become increasingly apparent. Cases like Breonna Taylor highlight how white offenders are often given the benefit of the doubt or let off from crimes that a black offender would be immediately detained or killed for. The topics of black incarceration, punishment, and sentencing are a whole problem in of themselves and I think deserve a wiki article of their own.

Unfortunately, because this assignment is limited in word count (1000-1250 according to the submission details and I'm already knowingly over that), I will not be able to dive into your suggestion since I would want to do it justice. However, I really appreciate your idea, how it broadens the conversation, and highlights how jury nullification can drastic impact the livelihoods of African Americans in the United States.

Thank you!
