I’m really interested to see where you go with the finished product of your article because I think that this topic is extremely relevant to the course material we’ve been exploring thus far. I completely agree that especially in the many forms of media we encounter today, like music videos, we see that black women are hypersexualized. To me, this just reinforces, rather than brings critical attention to the stereotypes implemented against black women. I think that your use of specific examples and adding the videos really enhances the point you’re trying to get across. It is also an effective means of grabbing your audience’s attention.

Other examples and grammar

Hi! I like your article, as I am a black woman and have been hypersexualized myself, it hit home. I think one stereotype you neglect to mention is the "angry black woman stereotype" where black women who speak their mind and stand up for themselves or have a strong presence are often labelled as angry black women. I like the Nicki Minaj reference, it is relevant and easily demonstrates your point. Also recheck some of your grammar maybe, the mistakes are a bit distracting.

This was very informative and was super interesting to read. I especially loved the juxtaposition of reactions from Nicki Minaj's video with those of Miley Cirus. A few of the sections seemed a little rushed, and I was curious if expanding on some of the ideas might help?

Elaborate Further

I think you have chosen an amazing topic that has soo many potential resources out there. I really suggest doing some more digging into this topic and maybe looking into the history of how this came to be. You touched on a lot of things briefly but i think but really elaborating on the topics such as giving a more in depth look into the history, or even showing more examples of other black females with contrast to white females and how society views them. this is such a great opportunity to tie in the intersectionalty topic by talking about how race and gender both play a part in this conversation. Adding more meat to this topic would make this a really great and informative wiki page!

More discussion about the consequences

Hey! I think that this wiki would be improved if you had a more in depth discussion regarding the negative implications that stereotypes can have on black women. I am sure if you were to dig in the literature you could find some supporting studies- maybe regarding things such as harassment in the workplace etc. I did think it was nice that you offered some detail on the "roots" of the sexualization of black women such as the consequences of slavery and so forth, but it would be meaningful to see you explore how this impacts black women in their day to day life now.

On another note, this wiki could use a quick proof read for grammar and comma placement. It reads a little run on.

Hi Sujeong, I think this is a great topic and I think it would be great if you added some examples other than in the media where the stereotypes of Black women’s sexuality exists and other places where the sexuality if black women is constructed. I think it will also be interesting to explore the construction of sexuality for women in other minority races on top of comparing to caucasian women (like you already have so with the Miley Cyrus example) and define the difference in the intersectionality for race and gender.

Be more specific!

This topic is so widely popular yet one i feel many lack talking about as its become to naturalized/normal.

To begin, maybe try further expanding your definition of a stereotype and give more specific examples to aid the reader to understand!

Under the heading "Stereotypes on Black Women's Sexuality” You mention a few large topics such as discrimination, the feminism movement, and slavery. Perhaps breaking these down into their own subcategories and how each of these have lead to the sexualization of black women would make this wiki page an easier read.

Under your heading of "Sexuality of Black Women” it could also help to be clearer on what exactly the stereotypes of black women are and how those correlate with the racism this group of individuals experiences. Also, i think your text may have gotten cut off here at the end!
