Implications of Gentrification

I enjoyed reading your post! Your topic interested me because I have done a research on an Indigenous-based arts organization in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, and I also addressed the topic of gentrification in my research. Your presentation of gentrification is more focused on the positive aspects, but I was wondering whether you could also address the impacts of gentrification on low and middle income groups? Also, I think It will help readers understand if you could do a case study on how gentrification has occurred in one specific geographical region. Thanks!

Neighborhoods Preferences Discussion

Great post!

In your section on Preferences Of Gentrification Towards White Neighborhoods, you make statements about the preferences of ethnic groups. It seems most of these statemtens come from one source, a single study. I think it would be good to mention that these results come from one source and may not be completely representative. You might want to explain the study, for example which geography it examined, which time period, and say the "study found..." as opposed to just stating the preferences of ethnic groups. Alternatively, you could add some more sources that back-up your statements. Obviously not all members of an ethnic group have the same preferences, and I definitely can imagine these preferences vary in urban/rural/suburban contexts, different states/provinces within North America, etc.
