Server Access

To set up the lab's server, please refer to the following steps:

1. Connect your computer physically to MECH LAN, or VPN into myvpn.ubc.ca (look up UBC vpn instructions if needed).
2. On your Windows workstation/laptop, simply map the share \\samba.mech.ubc.ca\MECHsimpl to your Network folder through logging into your MECH IT account.

If you do not have a MECH IT account, please create one via http://technicalservices.mech.ubc.ca/it-services/mech-it-account-management/.

If MECH IT account has been created but not registered, please complete the following steps:

1. Log onto https://account.mech.ubc.ca using your CWL ID and password
2. Click on 'Register' button and read the terms and conditions given followed by clicking 'I Accept'
3. Click 'Update' button to ensure the backend system is in sync
4. You will need to set your 'Windows' password (your CWL password will not work)
5. Scroll down your account page to the 'Windows' section and click 'Set Password'
6. Enter your password and verify and then click 'Submit' (cannot remember the actual button but is something similar!!)
7. Again click 'Update' button to ensure the backend system is in sync
8. Logout

Before doing any mapping, if you are using Windows, please fix a minor issue according to https://www.windowscentral.com/how-access-files-network-devices-using-smbv1-windows-10.
