From UBC Wiki

Given a differentiable function f(x), the linear approximation of f(x) at the point x=a is a function L(x)=kx+m which passes through the point (a,f(a)) and has the same slope as f at that point. Knowing this information, apply it to the function f(x)=x1/3 with a=8.
