From UBC Wiki

Factoring the derivative yields

f(x)=(x1)(x+1)(x6)(x+6)(x3)2(x+3)2

Now the following sign table is straight forward:

(;6) (6;3) (3;1) (1;1) (1;3) (3;6) (6;)
x1 + + +
x+1 + + + +
x6 +
x+6 + + + + + +
(x3)2 + + + + + + +
(x+3)2 + + + + + + +
f(x) + + +
f(x)

And so we can conclude that the function is increasing on:

(,6)(1,1)(6,)

and decreasing on:

(6,3)(3,1)(1,3)(3,6)
