Using Summon to Find Articles

To find journal articles about your topic, you can use Summon (on the UBC Library home page). Summon is a great starting place to find journal articles using keywords for your research question.

Searching Summon is fast and easy. Summon works like Google and Google Scholar by searching with keywords. It works by doing a full-text search, so it retrieves documents which include your keywords. Summon contains content from hundreds of the publishers and you can limit to just content from peer-reviewed sources.

By the end of this Module, you will know how to use Summon to:

  • Find journal articles on your topic by using keywords, phrase searching and Boolean search strategies.
  • Find a journal article by using information from its citation e.g. the title of the journal article in Summon
  • Access the full-text of the article you find
