Components of each Clicker set

  • Receiver with cable
  • 2 blue clickers for the instructor
  • USB containing iClicker software
  • Clickers for participants

Clicker Documentation: iClickers Instructor Sign-In Sheet

Each clicker set located in IKBLC, Koerner, Education (Scarfe) and Woodward will contain a Clickers Instructor Sign-In/Out Sheet. Fill in your name, the date and the number of clickers returned. Please remember to put the clickers set in the tote bag or backpack and return to designated location.

Starting the iClicker Software

  1. Connect the iClicker receiver base to your computer through the USB port. The LCD screen on the receiver will light up, signalling that your computer is powering it. Your computer will notify you that it recognizes new hardware and inform you when it is ready to use this hardware.
  2. Connect the iClicker flash drive to the USB port on the back of the receiver base
  3. You will see a prompt: Open Folder to View Files using Windows Explorer - click OK. Note: you do not have the ability to copy the software to your desktop. The USB key must be in the receiver for the software to work properly.
  4. To start, open folder: iClickerWin and then click on iclicker.exe
  5. Add or choose your course
  6. Go to Settings and Preferences. Enter the instructor’s remote ID. The barcode number label is at the front bottom of the blue clicker. It’s also written in small font on the back.

Best Practices for Using the Instructor’s Blue Clicker

  1. Remember to turn ON the blue clicker.
  2. Powerpoint Presentation should be on display mode
  3. Ensure the floating toolbar is on top of the Powerpoint presentation
  4. Remember to press START and STOP or HIDE/DISPLAY after each slide.
  5. Sometimes, you will have problems going forward or back. When this happens, you will notice the XPWindows appear at the bottom. Click on it, so it disappears and then try to advance your slide again. If all fails, use your mouse to move the slides.
  6. When you’re done, remember to turn off the blue (instructor’s) remote and remind your students to turn off their clickers. If clickers are left "on", they will shut off automatically after 90 minutes.
  7. iClicker folders containing info on classes, reports etc., can be copied to your Desktop, My Documents or a USB.
