Analysis Indexes Searchable by Composer

Hoek, D. J. Analyses of Nineteeth and Twentieth Century Music: 1940-2000. Lanham, Md.: Scarecrow Press, 2007. Music Reference: ML128.A7 W45 2007

  • Arranged alphabetically by composer, then by genre or work name
  • Provides citations to books, articles, and dissertations written in all languages between 1940 and 2000 that analyze works of Western art music.
  • Entries contain the composer's name, the title of the work, the author of the analysis, and the source of the analysis in abbreviated form. Consult the list of abbreviations at the front of the text to find the full name of the journal.

  • Provides access to descriptions or analyses of musical compositions in books owned by the University of Tennessee - Knoxville Music Library.
  • The UBC Music Library also owns many of the book titles listed. After searching the UTK Analysis Index and finding an item relevant to your research, verify that UBC owns the source title by doing a title or author search in the UBC Library catalogue. (The sources and call numbers listed in the UTK Analysis Index are based on the holdings of the Music Library at University of Tennessee - Knoxville.)
