Access Information

Summary

Access-small.png The David Lam library is generally very accessible and wheelchair-friendly.

Parking
Designated handicapped parking: near the bookstore or Main Library. Visitor parking: Fraser River and West Parkades. Assigned parking is available through UBC Parking and Transportation, at user request.

Building and Library entrance
From the Main Mall (near White Spot): up the ramp and through the heavy doors. The library is on Level 2 and may be reached by elevator.

Elevator
A normal-sized elevator with brailled buttons inside. A similar elevator, inside the library, accesses the upper level.

Library catalogue and computers
All Library web computers are at table height.

Photocopiers
There are regular photocopiers on the main floor, in the copy-room.

Public telephones
The nearest public telephones are: 2nd floor Koerner adjacent to the elevators and Main floor Scarfe (Education building) to the right (north) of the library entrance.

Bookstacks
Standard width between stacks, but not especially good for turning (80-90 cm).

Washrooms
There are unisex accessible washrooms on each floor.

Drinking Fountains
Drinking fountains are split-level and well recessed.
