The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre is generally very accessible and wheelchair-friendly. This is only a general overview of the Learning Centre's features; contact UBC's Centre for Accessibility for more information on the University's entire suite of access services.


Parking
Paid parking is available in the North Parkade and the Rose Garden Parkade. Please visit UBC Parking & Access Control Services for more information on disabled parking.

Designated Parking is available on East Mall, behind Buchanan E.


Building and Library entrance
From East Mall, enter the Learning Centre through the main doors. The Chapman Learning Commons as well as the entrance to the Music, Art and Architecture Library are on level 3; the entrance to Rare Books and Special Collections and University Archives is on level 1.

Elevator
There are two good sized elevators on the lobby level (east mall entrance) that access all levels of the Learning Centre. There is an additional elevator inside the Music, Art and Architecture Library.


Library catalogue and computers
There are many public computers on accessible tables in the Chapman Learning Commons and the Music, Art and Architecture Library. There are two designated disabled access computers in the main foyer on Level 2, next to Ike's Cafe. Laptop computers are also available for loan to UBC students, staff and faculty from the Information Desk on level 3. For more information please see the Public Computers & Software guide.


Bookstacks
Located in the Music, Art and Architecture Library, the open collections are situated on levels 3 and 4. The bookstacks can be browsed from a wheelchair; however top-shelf access requires foot-stools. If you need assistance please ask at the Research Help counter of the Information Desk on level 3. A Library staff member may be able to assist. Alternatively see the Enhanced Library Services information page for additional options.


Photocopying & Printing
There are regular photocopiers in the main foyer on level 2 and both levels of the Music, Art and Architecture Library. Printers are located on regular height tables in the main foyer, the Chapman Learning Commons and the Music, Art and Architecture Library. For more information please see the Print, Copy, Scan guide. Washrooms
Washrooms are located on all levels near the elevators. Each washroom has a modified stall, although they are not labelled. The accessible and gender-inclusive single stall washrooms are located on levels 1, 3, and 4. The designated disabled washroom on level 2, which is equipped with a specialized lift and harness, can be accessed by contacting Centre for Accessibility.


Drinking Fountains
Accessible water fountains are located beside the washrooms on all levels of the Learning Centre.


Public telephones
A standard height, public telephone is available in the lobby at the East Mall entrance, next to the elevator.
