Introduction

Readers are encouraged to read and discuss the Africa/Black literary criticism and literary theory in order to appreciate the unique themes and preoccupations of the writers and the literatures. To this end I recommend The companion of African Literatures edited by Douglas Killam and Ruth Rowe (2000) Indiana University Press, especially page 10 - 15.
