Ananse's feast : an Ashanti tale / retold by Tololwa M. Mollel ; illustrated by Andrew Glass

Summary

In this Ashanti tale, none of the animals has much to eat during a drought except Ananse the Spider who has hoarded food on his farm. When Ananse decides to treat himself to a feast, his friend Akye the Turtle drops by. Ananse does not want to share his food and tricks Akye out of the meal. When the rainy season comes, the roles are reversed and Ananse has little to eat. Akye invites Ananse to a feast but, through trickery, prevents him from eating. Glass uses oil paints and coloured pencils to create comic illustrations for this amusing tale. Children will enjoy the highly stylized characters in the bright, colourful illustrations.
