Background info!
Lily Baker's lesson:
Takes place in a public library, class on scams for seniors (65-80ish). This is a general, one-off class intended for beginners, focusing on safety and prevention. Maybe you’re here because your child suggested it, maybe you have been scammed before, or are being proactive!
You don't need to bring anything. Learning outcomes = By the end of this lesson students will be able to:
· Identify red flags that commonly appear in scam scenarios
· Implement simple strategies to avoid being scammed
As my students in this scenario, I anticipate that you will have experience with/understand the following:
Envision your technological landscape. You have a landline, you rely largely on email and phone calls to communicate. Perhaps you have an iphone, and if not you probably have a flip phone, and text semi-regularly, you understand emojis and you know you should not give money to Nigerian princes.
As my students in this scenario, I anticipate that you will NOT have experience with/understand the following, or that you will be confused by the following issues:
You are not well versed in this digital age. You don’t really know what AI is, other than that it stands for Artificial Intelligence and sometimes people use it to create funny videos of cats cooking pasta and dancing romantically, surrounded by fish raining from the sky—aka, you don’t know it can be used for scams.
