Hello, my name is Anelyse Weiler, and I work with Friends of the UBC Farm and community outreach. Throughout your tour of the farm, you’ve probably seen a few group of students, lone wolf researchers and volunteers of diverse ages. Now that you’ve had a taste of the very exciting and diverse initiatives that take place at the UBC Farm, I’m going to tell you about how you can get involved this special place.

Friends of the UBC Farm provides outreach and advocacy to encourage sustainability research, education and community-building initiatives such as special events, workshops and fundraisers at the UBC Farm.

One of the projects we’re looking forward to implementing soon includes creating short YouTube cooking shows highlight UBC Farm produce. Although officially we’re a UBC student club, we welcome non-students from the broader community as well. To get involved, email us at friendsoftheubcfarm@gmail.com or check out our blog, friendsoftheubcfarm.org

It’s important to note that without donations to the UBC Farm, we couldn’t offer the variety and richness of programs that we do. We’re happy to receive more! To donate, please visit the donations page on the UBC Farm website (just google “UBC Farm”)

We also like to update our supporters through Twitter and Facebook with the neat happenings and events at the farm. Our hashtags are “UBCFarmFriends” and “UBCFarm,” although you could just search for “UBC Farm.”

The UBC Farm website is also an excellent resource for finding the appropriate person to contact information if you’re interested in volunteering at our Farm Markets, with our Children’s Learning Programs or in the field, if you’d like to propose an academic research project, or if you’d like to learn how to become a farmer yourself through our season-long practicum.
