PDF to Wiki Syntax

In order to convert a PDF to wiki markup, a two-step process is required from PDF to DOC or HTML then to wiki. Considering these difficulties, it is generally not recommend. However, provided here are the "best" options.

The simplest method is to just copy/paste the text and format it manually.

via DOC

I only suggest using this method if you have Adobe Acrobat (full version, not just reader). If you're on Windows, you also have the option of downloading the 30-day trial version.

  1. Open the PDF file with Acrobat.
  2. Select File -> Export -> Word Document and save.
  3. Use one of the two DOC to wiki converters discussed n the help article on converting documents to wiki.

via HTML

Recommended only if the original file has a large amount of formatting that is difficult or very time consuming to do manually.

  1. Use Adobe's Online Conversion tool to convert the PDF to HTML.
  2. Convert the HTML file to wiki markup using a converter as per the [Help:Converting_HTML_to_Wiki_Syntax|HTML to wiki help article], such as [1].
  3. Copy and paste the wiki code into the Strip HTML tool and also copy the following into the "Allow tags" box: <u><center><strike><center><blockquote><nowiki><tt><pre><ref> (you can change the list of tags depending on your preference). You can then copy and paste the code that tool gives you into the wiki editing box.
