Help:AI-generated media

From UBC Wiki

Media generated by artificial intelligence present unique challenges. As the technology is rapidly developing, and there are many legal and ethical gray areas concerning AI-generated media, best practices may change rapidly.

UBC Guidelines and Resources for Using GenAI

Before uploading GenAI generated media to the UBC Wiki, please review the below UBC guidance:

GenAI and Course Projects

If using GenAI as part of an assignment or course project, please talk to your instructor for appropriate use.

Attribution for GenAI Media

Whenever you upload an AI-generated media file that was created by a prompt-based system, you are encouraged to document the prompt used to generate the media in the file description.

When giving attribution for a media file created by a prompt-based system such as a text-to-image model, best practice is to give the name of the specific AI engine used, followed by the name of the person who created the prompt.

For example: Jane doe used the Midjourney‎ AI to create an image

  • If the file is a collaboration between a human and an AI (e.g. a human added original creative content other than the prompt), both should be listed as authors:
  • Author: Jane Doe and Midjourney‎ AI
