English: ChopValue is a company that provides a second life for recycled chopsticks which would otherwise be tossed in landfills. The company claims to be carbon neutral in their 2021 Urban Impact Report. In order to test their claim of carbon neutrality, we have conducted a life cycle assessment (LCA) to examine the validity of their claim and identify the areas in the company’s product processing that are causing the most amount of emissions. The LCA report has taken into consideration only the emissions calculated in the Vancouver micro factory location. The product was examined from the cradle to the grave, and only carbon dioxide was chosen as the specific greenhouse gas emission.
