Summary

Description
English: Once Pb enters the CNS, it binds to voltage-gated calcium channels and decreases the transportation of calcium ions. Lead interacts with Ca2+ binding sites, which eventually decreases the activation of post-synaptic receptors. Lead forms Pb-NMDA complexes, which alters the intracellular levels of Ca2+ in the postsynaptic neuron. In the end, Pb alters the redox environment, promoting cell death.
