Description
English: Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is caused by mutations in the SMN1 (survival of motor neuron 1) gene, which produces SMN (survival of motor neuron) protein. Three or more copies of SMN2 (survival of motor neuron 2) can result in a milder subtype of SMA.
