About

FIRE is a gif image where small white spots dance against a black background. The spots move in a directional, wavy fashion; horizontal, but slightly slanted. The animation appears to imitate the movement of fire. It is shown at full screen with its own URL.

The work, when exhibited in an architectural space, reflects Sassoon's interest in pixelated virtual architecture and the digital interception of physical space. His "snowfields" create both an image and immersive experience for viewers. [1] Its simultaneous online and offline presence allows the work to draw relationships between the physical and virtual worlds. [2]

Related Works

FIRE is part of Series 1 of the Wallpapers project. Sassoon includes a set of 6 gifs on this page, titled: FIRE, MUD, RAIN, SAND, CREEK, and BARK; all of which are made up of white spots moving in various directions and patterns. [3]
