Session Description
A hands-on workshop with lively discussion and activities that focus on emerging trends in technology that can enhance your learning and teaching environments. Discover, discuss and learn how blogs, wikis, RSS and a growing number of new technologies are expanding opportunities for collaboration and communication between instructors and students. Attendees will also be given valuable information highlighting best practices and community resources. If you are curious about emerging technologies, then this workshop will provide you with the information you need to make good decisions.
Co-Presenter: Emily Renoe works at UBC’s Office of Learning Technology, as a Learning Technologies Specialist. She supports, trains, and guides faculty in the uses of WebCT Vista as well as other emerging technologies. She has worked in the IT field for over 10 years.
Co-Presenter: Catherine Paul is a Community of Practice Facilitator with the Office of Learning Technology, at UBC, where she combines her passion for people with 10 years of experience working with Learning Technologies.
Objectives
- Reflect upon the results of using learning technology in instruction and consider ways to adapt lessons accordingly
- Be able to discuss advantages and disadvantages and prospects of using learning technology in your teaching practice
- Consider ways of incorporating learning technology into your WebCT Vista or other CMS course
- Learn one thing that you didn't expect to learn.
