Elearning:Getting started with WebCT for students

From UBC Wiki

These steps present resources and contacts for navigating the term with WebCT.

Step 1: Get a CWL

The first step in preparing for the term for first time WebCT users is to get a Campus Wide Login ID. Visit the CWL website to create a CWL account. Along with your email address, your CWL ID will be the primary identifier you use in making contact with support resources on campus.

Step 2: Login to Your Courses

You will automatically have access to your WebCT courses at UBC once you have added them at the Student Services Centre. Once they are added, you can add the WebCT Course channel to your myUBC Channels page. If you have trouble logging in, use the Student WebCT Help Request Form.

Step 3: Get Support

Throughout the term, if you run into trouble, it is important to know where to get support. For problems relating to the following:

  • Login Problems
  • Server Issues
  • Network Trouble
  • WebCT software errors

Contact ITServices in person, by phone, or webform:

  • By e-mail: help@itservices.ubc.ca
  • By Phone: 604.822.2008 (UBC Vancouver) / 250.807.9611 (UBC Okanagan)
  • Regular hours: Mon. - Fri. 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Phone/E-mail/Walk-In)
  • Extended Hours: Mon. - Thu. 4:30 PM - 9:00 PM (Phone/E-mail) - Effective Winter session (September - April)

If you encounter problems with course content, such as a quiz not being available, or a page of materials not viewing, you need to address these to your instructor.
