Best Practices for Students Taking a WebCT Vista Online Quiz/Assessment

Some general tips to pass along to your students prior to taking a Quiz:

Advise students to verify their browser meets WebCT Vista requirements by running “check browser” located on myVista page or click on this link: verify your browser compatibility (auto-check)
Advise students to be aware that after 90 minutes of inactivity (i.e., user logs onto WebCT Vista but does nothing during the session), their session will time out.
Prior to taking the quiz, users should log out of the session, close the browser window and then log in with a fresh browser window.
Remind students to click “save answer” for each question (good practice).
For quizzes that require long paragraph answers, the students should compose the response in a text editor then cut/paste the response in quiz (good practice – student maintains a copy of the answer in event of session timeout).

When attaching a submission, please exclude special characters such as (% # - @ *) in the file name as they are not supported within WebCT Vista.
