Documentation:UBC Code/FAQ

From UBC Wiki

Why should I put my code on code.ubc.ca?

Code at UBC is the place to promote open source projects at UBC. It's a hub for communication around development activities. Putting your code here will allow you to:

  • Help reduce work duplication and development redundancies
  • Engage community, get feedback on proposals
  • Inspire others
  • Get recognition for your work
  • Influence the roadmaps for major technology projects for UBC; currently not enough transparency around setting direction for major technological challenge

What happens when I submit my code?

After submitting your code, it gets curated to ensure that the right category and keywords are applied to it and then it gets posted at code.ubc.ca/code. This is done to ensure that information on this site is easy to find.

What type of code can be submitted?

Your submission could be any project in any language; it could be a program, plug-in, extension, etc. However, all submissions should be open source so other people can use and help develop your code.

Who can contribute code here?

Any faculty, staff, student or other member of the UBC Community is welcome to contribute to this site.

How many different submissions can I make?

As many as you like.
