From UBC Wiki
Distilled deionized water system
  1. Please obtain proper training from the FNH teaching lab technician Imelda Cheung (Imelda.Cheung@ubc.ca) prior to using the ddwater system.
  2. On the distillation assembly, turn on the tap water by moving the red lever on the wall downwards.
  3. When the water level in the chamber is stabilized, turn on the main switch.
  4. Distilled water will be produced and collected in the water jug.
  5. Leave the system on until the jug is filled to the desired level.
  6. Turn the valve to ON on the water jug connected to the distillation system and collect distilled water into a 6L Erlenmeyer flask.
  7. Fill the water jug labelled “Distilled water only” on the bench.
  8. Turn the valve to ON on the water jug labelled “Distilled water only” and the distilled water will go through the deionizing chamber and produce distilled deionized water. Collect the distilled deionized water in a 4L Erlenmeyer flask.
  9. You may use the distilled deionized water straight from the Erlenmeyer flask, or fill the water jug labelled “Distilled Deionized water” on the bench and use it.
  10. When all the water jugs are filled, turn off the distillation system by turning off the main switch and allow the system to cool down for a few min.
  11. Turn off the tap water by moving the red lever on the wall upwards.
DO NOT leave the distillation system on OVERNIGHT!
Remember to turn the valve to all water jugs to OFF when finish.
