Appearance

- Please obtain proper training from the FNH teaching lab technician Imelda Cheung (Imelda.Cheung@ubc.ca) prior to using the pH meter.
- A video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL1cYcwfJFo is also provided for review purpose and can be viewed as needed.
- Turn on pH meter by pressing “Stdby”.

- Remove pH probe carefully from storage bottle and turn the probe to “ON” position.
- Rinse with ddH2O and gently dry with kimwipes.
- Immerse the probe in pH 4 buffer and press “std”.
- When value stabilized, press “std” to recognize the buffer.
- Repeat steps 8 – 10 for pH 7 and 10 buffers.
- The percent slope displayed at the end of calibration should be within the range of 90 – 102%.
- Please note that when you are in standardization mode, the LCD will display ‘standardize’. When standardization is complete, the LCD will display ‘read’.
- The electrode is now ready for use to read samples.
- When pH measurement is complete, rinse the probe thoroughly with ddH2O, dry with kimwipes, then place the probe carefully back into the storage bottle filled with pH 4 buffer.
- If you note that the buffer level in the storage bottle does not soak the pH probe, please add pH 4 buffer to the bottle. pH 4 buffer can be found under shelf “P” in MCML 230G.
- Turn the probe to “OFF” position.
- It is important to close the probe or else electrolyte will evaporate and the probe may be damaged.
