The Research Commons provides consultation services for Thesis Formatting, Citation Management, and SPSS Software. Please use our booking system to make an appointment.

How To Log In

  1. Go to https://ubcca.mywconline.com/index.php
  2. If you have not yet created an account, click on "Click here to register". Fill out the form and click "Register".
  3. At the log in screen, enter your email address and password.
  4. Choose UBC Library Research Commons Fall 2013 from the dropdown list.
  5. Click "LOG IN".

This will take you to the calendar.


How To Book an Appointment

Make sure at the top of the calendar it says UBC Library Research Commons Fall 2013. If not, select it from the dropdown list.

  1. Near the top of the page, next to "Limit to:", select the type of service you are looking for.
  2. Use the calendar or left and right arrows to move to the day or week you are interested in booking an appointment.
  3. Available time slots are shown in white. Click on a white box to bring up the appointment window. (Light blue boxes are appointments that are taken; dark blue boxes are times when the service is not offered.)
  4. In the appointment window, the time defaults to a half-hour appointment. At this time, to make a one-hour appointment, you must make two back-to-back half-hour appointments separately. (We are working to fix this.)
  5. In the box, write what specific question or issue you would like to discuss in your session.
  6. Click the "SAVE APPOINTMENT" button at the bottom.
  7. You should see a confirmation screen. Click "CLOSE WINDOW".
  8. The box in the schedule should now be yellow.
  9. You should receive a confirmation email.


How To Change or Cancel an Appointment

Make sure at the top of the calendar it says UBC Library Research Commons Fall 2013. If not, select it from the dropdown list.

  1. Click on the yellow box for the appointment you want to change or cancel.
  2. Make the appropriate changes and then click the "SAVE CHANGES" button, or click "CANCEL THIS APPOINTMENT" at the bottom to cancel it, and then click "OK".
  3. You should see a confirmation screen. Click "CLOSE WINDOW".
  4. You should receive a confirmation email.


How To Get On a Waiting List

Make sure at the top of the calendar it says UBC Library Research Commons Fall 2013. If not, select it from the dropdown list.

  1. For the row that represents the day you would like to be put on the waiting list, locate the clock icon next to the date on the far left. Click the clock icon.
  2. Next to "With specific staff?" click the dropdown box and select the service and person you would like to meet with. If you leave it with "No. Notify me of all openings" you will be waitlisted for ALL available services that day. This is NOT recommended.
  3. Next to "At specific times?" click the dropdown menus and select the appropriate times. Please note that your time range must fall within the hours that the specific staff member is available that day.
  4. If you would prefer to receive a text rather than an email, enter your phone number (numbers only) and select your cell phone company from the dropdown list.
  5. Click "ADD TO WAITING LIST".
  6. Click "CLOSE".
