Documentation:Open UBC/Research/Get Started/How
To make your research practices more open, you should regularly evaluate your work with a focus on openness and transparency. Some of the ways you can move toward making your research more open include:
Before you start:
- Ensure you are discoverable through a robust online researcher profile
- Pre-register your study or write a protocol
During the research process:
- Keep track of your data with version control
- Work with open source tools
At the point of publication:
- Seek out publishers who have open access policies and support open research
- Publish pre-prints
- Share your data and data analysis (when possible and appropriate)
- Produce outputs that speak to the needs of your research partners
