Documentation:Online Workshops/Planning

From UBC Wiki

This is the process for getting set up to deliver a workshop as part of the the Online Workshop Series.

Get Access to Wimba

  • You will need admin access to the Learning Commons Workshops Classroom. Email Joe Zerdin at CTLT.

Schedule Your Session

  • Decide on workshop types and times. A group skills workshop will be more likely to score enrollment early on in the semester and exam strategies will have higher enrollment prior to midterms and finals. Students attending online workshops are keen on flexible hours for workshops such as lunch hour, evenings and weekends. Have some flexibility when you schedule your workshop. Make sure to get a colleague from your unit or department to join you for the workshop as a co-facilitator.
  • Inform the update name for LA half time about your workshop title, time and description. They will create an event in the Library Instructional Booking System (LIBS), which will then get fed to other promotional channels. For further information about planning your workshop, see our planning resource page.

Review Your Resources

Upload Your Content

  • prepare your slides, images, poll questions in advance. Slides are uploaded as a batch.
  • The following slides will provide some guidance for you in navigating the Admin screen for uploading your slides as well as getting to know the facilitator's interface of the Wimba Classroom. A thorough guide to content uploads and room administration is available at Wimba support documentation for Room Admins
