Making the Wick

The cotton wicks that have been braided are submerged into chemicals of inorganic salt solutions to make sure that they will burn at a 90 degree angle [1]. Then they are dipped into paraffin to build multiple layers that will make the wick stiff and able to stand up straight [1].
