Deletion dependencies and recovery

Deletion of videos from My Media:

Answer: Yes. Deleting a video from My Media will remove the video from Faculty repository as well.

Deletion of videos from Faculty Repository:

Answer: No, you will still have the video in My Media.

Answer: When a video is deleted from the Faculty repository, it will also be deleted from any other courses that might use the video. There is a way to make an entire clip from the video and add it to My Media independently from the initial video. This option is available only if the owner of the video allowed making clips of the video.

Recover a deleted video

The video share team can recover deleted videos. Submit a ticket to UBCIT Service Centre and request that the deleted file be recovered. Include in your request the following information:

  • Your CWL, email address, and first/last name of the user.
  • The exact title of the video.
  • Date and time the video was deleted.

Please note that the file recovery process requires escalation to Kaltura Inc. Support and might take several days.
