- International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL)
This society serves faculty members, staff, and students who care about teaching and learning as serious intellectual work. The goal of the Society is to foster inquiry and disseminate findings about what improves and articulates post-secondary learning and teaching. It meets annually, alternating between the United States and another country.
- International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE)
IARSLCE’s mission is to promote the development and dissemination of research on service-learning and community engagement internationally and across all levels of the education system.

- Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE)
STLHE is a national association of academics interested in the improvement of teaching and learning in higher education. Its members comprise faculty and teaching and learning professionals from institutions of post-secondary education across Canada and beyond. Founded in 1981, the bilingual STLHE is home to the Council of 3M National Teaching Fellows and the Educational Developers Caucus. It hosts an annual conference that is attended by about 500 people, and that features sessions that are often quite active and engaging, facilitated by people at various stages in their teaching careers.
- Educational Developers Caucus (EDC)
This community of practice works within the aims and structure of the STLHE to facilitate the advancement and evolution of educational development as a field of practice and scholarship. It does so through a listserv that anyone can join, an annual conference, online resources, and special professional development opportunities open to members. This includes an annual grants program to support educational development research and development. The EDC conference is unique in ensuring, through its Call for Proposals, that sessions do what they say and say what they will do, and that, through its peer review process, have already been polished before the conference has even started.

- Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD)
POD fosters human development in higher education through faculty, instructional, and organizational development. POD sponsors an annual conference

EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.
- International Alliance of Teacher Scholars (IATS)
Through publications and conferences, IATS provides a scholarly forum for faculty and administrators to discuss all areas affecting college/university teaching and learning, and gives them the opportunity to share proven, innovative pedagogies and thoughtful insights about teaching.
- International Consortium for Educational Development (ICED)
ICED was established to promote educational or academic development in higher education world-wide. ICED is a network whose members are themselves national organisations or networks concerned with promoting good practice in higher education. The ICED Council is formed by Presidents, or their representatives, of a country's academic staff development network(s). ICED holds a conference every two years.
- Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education (CSSHE)
The CSSHE’s purpose is to advance knowledge of postsecondary education through the dissemination through publication and learned meetings. This society hosts an annual conference, publishes the Canadian Journal of Higher Education and The Professional File, a newsletter that describes and analyzes current issues in higher education policy and practice.

- Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (CF)
Founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1905 and chartered in 1906 by an Act of Congress, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching is an independent policy and research center. Its current mission is to support needed transformations in American education through tighter connections between teaching practice, evidence of student learning, the communication and use of this evidence, and structured opportunities to build knowledge.
