Taking Exams Online

As part of your course, you will be required to take quizzes or exams online, in which case it is important that you are sure when the exam will start, when it is due and whether you are allowed more than one attempt. Check your Course Schedule and the Assessments tool for further information.

Some courses will provide a mock exam which you can use to test your computer and browser prior to taking an online exam. It is highly recommended that you use this feature if it is available to you. It is also recommended that you log in to your course well in advance of any scheduled start time to ensure you have enough time to make sure your computer is functioning properly.

It is important that you save your answers as you proceed in case there is a technical problem. However, you must also remember to submit the exam when ready to do so.

If you require assistance during an online exam, please contact the CTLT Help Desk: dl.helpdesk@ubc.ca

Online exams are governed by the same UBC policy on Academic Integrity (UBC Policy 85) as in-person invigilated exams. Therefore, it is expected that you are aware of this policy as it pertains to cheating or other forms of academic misconduct.
