Blackboard Drive (Bb Drive) is an application that enables you to access your Connect Content Collection directly from your computer without a browser.

You can request access to Bb Drive by filling out the form on this page.

Note: The use of Bb Drive and Connect must comply with Canadian copyright laws and a copyright status will need to be set for each file uploaded.

This document will show you how to:

  • Setup Blackboard Drive with Connect
  • Edit your HTML Files

Setup Blackboard Drive with Connect

  1. Open the Blackboard Drive application
  2. Go back to your browser and login into Connect using your CWL
  3. Click Content Collection on the upper right-hand corner of the page
  4. Click the drop-down arrow beside My Content
  5. Click Open with BbDrive
    Open with BbDrive appears in Content Collection folders you have permission to Read, Write, Remove and Manage.
  6. You will be brought back to BbDrive and prompted with verifying Server Credentials
  7. Login with your CWL username and password
    Your Server Credentials are your CWL username and password.

You can now access your Connect Content Collection on your local computer.

To gain access later on, open BbDrive and click connect/disconnect at the bottom right corner of the window when you choose IL-bbcswebdav volume.

IL-bbcswebdav is the volume you use to access your Connect account.

Edit your HTML Files

For you to be able to edit HTML files, you need to use application an HTML editor such as:

For Macs

  1. Open a Finder window
  2. Under Shared on the left-hand sidebar, click connect.ubc.ca
  3. Open the IL-bbcswebdav folder
  4. Search for the HTML file you want to edit
  5. The connect.ubc.ca folder under Shared follows the same organizational structure as your Connect Content Collection.
  6. Open the file using an HTML editor
  7. Edit the file
  8. Save the file
  9. Review the file in your course

For Windows

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Under My Computer on the left-hand sidebar, click IL-bbcswebdav
  3. Search for the HTML file you want to edit
    The file structure within Windows Explorer is the same as your Connect Content Collection.
  4. Open the file using an HTML editor
  5. Edit the file
  6. Save the file
  7. Review the file in your course
