The Blogs tool can be used to help students have space for personal reflection, sharing thoughts and ideas or documenting their understanding of a topic.

You can create a blog entry to provide structure for blog posts. Blog entries can include text, images, and links.

This document will show you how to:

  • Create a blog entry
  • Save the blog as a draft
  • Edit and post the blog entry.

Create a blog entry

  1. From the Course Management menu on the left-hand side, open Control Panel
  2. Click Course Tools
  3. Click Blogs
    The Blogs tool can be found under Course Tools in the Course Management menu on the bottom left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Select a blog you would like to post an entry to
  5. Click Create Blog Entry at the top-right corner of the page
    The Create Blog Entry button appears at the top-right corner of the page when you are in a blog.
  6. Enter a name for the new blog entry
  7. Enter the blog entry message
  8. (Optional) Attach a file to the entry

You can either save the entry as a draft and edit it at a later date or post the entry immediately.

Save the blog as a draft

Click Save Entry as Draft at the bottom or the top of the page to return to the message later to edit and send.

The Save Entry as Draft button can be found either at the top or bottom of the Create a Blog Entry area.

The new entry displays on the View Drafts page.

Edit and post the blog entry

  1. From the Course Management menu on the left-hand side, open Control Panel
  2. Click Course Tools
  3. Click Blogs
  4. Select the blog where you had the draft entry
  5. Click View Drafts on the top-right corner of the page
    The View Drafts button is found on the top-right corner of a blog area.
  6. Open the blog entry
  7. Make the desired changes
  8. Click Submit at the bottom or the top of the page to post the blog entry
